RELEASE FAQ
Before software is formally released, it goes through several
stages of testing. Testing
is generally broken down into Alpha, usually being done in-house
by a small group, and Beta testing, done by outside parties
to represent a wider range of systems and configurations.
A Beta version is often very close to what will ultimately
be the full release version of the software.
WHY IS
THIS SOFTWARE BEING RELEASED AS A BETA VERSION? WHEN WILL
VERSION 1.0 BE RELEASED?
The software
is no longer in production and may not ever have a final release
version. Production ended at or near the Beta testing phase.
When it was determined that the project would not progress
any further, a decision was made to release the Beta version
rather than abandon the entire project.
SINCE
THIS IS NOT FULLY TESTED SOFTWARE, WILL IT MESS UP MY MACHINE?
Although
this is a Beta pre-release, it has been through Alpha testing
and has proven stable. Most problems you would experience
would be cosmetic only. Please read the disclaimer
before using any software or content from this site. Any
software offered on this site is released as-is and without
warranty. Use at your own risk.
COULD
I BETA TEST FOR YOU IN THE FUTURE?
Since there is no software currently
in production, there is no point in looking for testers. If you have specific bugs
to report that are not listed as known issues in the text files that accompany the
software, please contact us. Reports will be kept for
reference in case the software in question becomes an active project in the future.
